Oak Tree Genealogy (Previously Acorn Ancestry)

Oak Tree Genealogy will never share the client's details with any third party and all information gathered during the course of research will only be shared with the client, unless the client gives me permission to do so.

I offer a free consultation and will only take on the project if I am confident that I can find what I need. If the records are scarce or non-existent, I will be honest with the client and no money will change hands. There is no obligation to proceed with the research after the consultation. 

Oak Tree Genealogy offers two types of research packages; fixed-price and pay-as-you-go. For the fixed-price packages, a 50% deposit is payable before research can begin, then the remaining 50% is due upon satisfactory completion of the project. If the client changes their mind, the remaining 50% must still be paid as they are paying for my time. No exceptions.

For the pay-as-you-go option, the client decides how long they would like me to spend on the research and payment is made in advance. Once the work is completed, it is up to the client if they would like me to do further research. 

I cover all of the United Kingdom, including Scotland. Ireland can be problematic so if you have Irish ancestry I may not be able to complete the research. I do not carry out international genealogical research due to difficulties obtaining records.

If any official certificates (birth, marriage or death) are required to assist with the research I will always seek permission from the client before ordering. The certificates are obtained from The General Register Office and are charged at £12 each. They are not always necessary but can be very helpful when research has stalled for various reasons. 

Other extras which will be charged on top of the usual fee are any websites I may use in my research which charge me to view the original records, and credits will have to be purchased for this. But again, I will notify the client if this becomes necessary. 

The finished family tree can be sent as a GedCom file, or printed out and put into a 4-ring binder. There is no additional charge for this. Postage is also included in the cost of the research, if the client wants a physical copy of the family tree. 

A full-sized wall chart can be produced if required. This is done by a specialist printer and costs extra. Please contact me for a quote if this is something you would like.
